REVEREND DINO HECKERMANN,
Retired Streamwood Police Sergeant
Dino Heckermann is a Chicago native whose law enforcement career began in 1989 with the Streamwood Police Department as a police cadet. He was sworn in as a police officer in 1991, proudly served as a Patrol Sergeant, and retired in 2018 after nearly three decades of service.
Dino currently serves as President of the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers (FCPO), Elgin Chapter #75, and is an ordained minister with a passion for encouraging first responders through Biblical faith, emotional wellness, and peer support.
The Meaning Behind the ShieldInFaithUSA.com Logo
The symbolism behind the logo and name ShieldInFaithUSA is deeply rooted in Biblical truth, spiritual warfare, redemption, protection, and unwavering trust in God.The shield itself is inspired by the Greek word "Thureos" (θυρεός) in Ephesians 6:16, which describes the Shield of Faith.
"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." — Ephesians 6:16
A Thureos was not a small shield
It was a large Roman battle shield designed to protect the entire warrior during combat. Spiritually, it represents complete protection through faith in Jesus Christ.
The subtle Thin Blue Line woven into the shield reflects my law enforcement background and honors those who serve and protect while standing firm in faith.
The distressed American flag represents perseverance, sacrifice, freedom, and the spiritual battle facing our nation today.
The glowing cross at the center of the shield symbolizes Jesus Christ as the true source of strength, protection, healing, hope, and salvation.
The crimson red stripes at the top and bottom of the flag carry special significance. They represent the grace, mercy, and salvation made available through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross.

The crimson red reminds us of the blood that Jesus willingly shed for the forgiveness of our sins. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." — Romans 5:8
The red also serves as a reminder that victory, healing, redemption, and eternal life were purchased at a great cost. "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace."

The banner bearing Psalm 28:7 was intentionally chosen because it captures the heart of this ministry and my personal testimony: "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me." — Psalm 28:7
shield in faith
The reason I chose "Shield In Faith" instead of "Shield Of Faith" was intentional.
"Shield of Faith" describes the object itself. "Shield In Faith" describes where we live, stand, fight, endure, heal, and overcome. It represents being covered, grounded, and positioned IN faith daily—not merely possessing faith, but living within it. It also creates a stronger identity and movement:
- Standing in Faith
- Walking in Faith
- Healing in Faith
- Serving in Faith
- Enduring in Faith
The name reflects my personal testimony.
Through cancer, uncertainty, spiritual battles, and life's challenges, I remained shielded in faith through Jesus Christ.
The blue in the word "In" is intentional. It emphasizes the central message of the ministry:
We are not merely carrying a shield. We are living, standing, trusting, and remaining IN FAITH.
The logo ultimately points to one truth:
Jesus Christ is our strength.
Jesus Christ is our shield.
Jesus Christ is our hope.
